Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning on 9/11

Where were you when the world stopped turning on 9/11 ten years ago? Were you home watching tv when it happened? Were you at work when you heard the news? Were you in school, or maybe heard it on the radio going down the road.

I was home, and waking to the news. My husband was suppose to be out east with the truck that morning, but due to a delay/cancellation of the load he was at home. He had an extra day he could use to swing by the house. I awoke that morning, my grandmother was calling to see if hubby was ok, and where he was at for sure. When I seen the videos, and all those people on tv I was devastated! I was sad, and I cried because of what happened, for those who lost someone, for all the first responders that were there helping or who maybe lost their lives too, and just so many emotions at that time.

The next day hubby was out that way with the truck. He called home to let me know things ok for him, and that they were searching vehicles/trucks with dogs. He told me he thanked them for using the dogs to search, but too bad it had not been done sooner to maybe help prevent things that had happened.

I was proud of how we came together as the great United States we are to help those who needed it, and to come together as a nation to grieve, give our support, and do what we could with the tragedy that had happened. Since then America has not been the same due to the fear that has been added from that day.

And, why did it happen? How could we permit something like this to happen? I feel for those kids today....10 years later who lost a parent and the growing they have had to do without them. How do we explain to our children today what happened back then? Do we tell them? What is the best thing to tell them that they can still believe in this country, and feel safe being here too? So many things, so many thoughts, and so many emotions.

Thanks for visiting with Second Time Treasures on this day of Remembrance for the tragedy that happened 10 years ago. I wish you all well, and take care. You are welcome to share, and comment with this issue as well.
