Hey, how many others wish for this same thing too? I sure do! Just to be able to enjoy what I am doing, and knowing others are happy with their finds they receive from me would be such a great feeling.

So, below are a few pictures from MaryLouLavenders that she is offering right now. I happen to know that she does have more inventory that is being prepared to be added with this as time permits. So, keep an eye out for some of them things. Any questions, don't hesitate to ask her, ok?

Getting Organized by Repurposing and Upcycling From Home

Getting Organized by Repurposing and Upcycling From Home.

Hello, and Welcome to Second Time Treasures! Glad to have you here, and hope ya'll are having a wonderful week so far. The time of year is coming for me, and maybe for some of you too. End of year, holidays soon over, winter time, and I will soon be getting cabin fever...not a whole lot can do when it is cold out, and sometimes have snow too. Things will soon be slowing down around here after all the fesitivities, and I will then be looking around at everything. House walls will start to come in a little closer, and I will realize since I cannot paint anything yet that I need to get more organized. Honestly, I feel that way a lot with organizing, but I have been looking at some things to maybe help me out a bit, or give me some wonderful ideas to do.

So, my favorite things of repurposing and upcycling will be able to help with many of my organizational tasks I will be planning out. I have found many others doing it, and they have also shared many wonderful pictures along with sometimes a tutorial on how they did it too. We don't always have to go out, and buy new to fix things around the home. We sometimes have things right in our home that we don't consider, and can be used. Many of us hang onto different things thinking some day I might find a use for it, or also the feeling of you just hate to get rid of it...you never know. This is one of them times to use some of them things.

Have any extra tea cups from a mismatched set, coffee cups, mugs, saucers, and etc? Use those to separate things in maybe a drawer, and organize them. For instance paper clips, pins, tacs, staples for that good old stapler, tape, and just different things like that.

There are many ways to organize the walls, and your spaces with things you have sitting around too. Using some tin cans...paint them or add some mod podge and paper to them to decorate for the area you would like to use them with. They can also be hung too. Use some old desk, or dresser drawers to organize with as well. Something I have been seriously considering lately...since I have enough of them, and will see them when thrifting too is dressers. Oh yeah. They can be used for your tv consoles, pull drawers out to make room for the dvd player and such, and don't forget....those drawers can be used in other ways too. I have seen some dressers repurposed for the kitchen as an island, seen them in the bathroom to organize as they are, or by adding sinks and such to them too.

Below I will show you only a few pictures I found to hopefully help you create maybe what would work for you. There is much to see out there on the internet, and with different places. If you have a day where you can just roam for a bit, take a look, and find some things to spark your imagination. I have found that some of the blogs have been helpful, and also at pinterest.com many are tagging things there of interest too.

I can see putting 3 baskets, bowls, pie pans, and such together making something like this myself. Great for serving of food, but also for organizing of things in the bathroom, kitchen, office, bedroom, and so on. I got this picture from organizerwomansday.com

Something so simple, but oh so organizational too! here is showing how coffee cups, creamers, glasses, and trays come be helpful when organizing them smaller things you have. Not only the bathroom, but the kitchen, office, and your bedroom would be great with this too. I found this picture with apartmenttherapy.com

I forgot to mention how some of us maybe need to organize for our gardens, or the tools we use. This is a dresser that has been repurposed for such a task. Neat idea, isn't it? I found this on pinterest.com which it originally came from addicted2decorating.com. Hmm....the possibilities!
Here is a way to use some of them dresser, and desk drawers that you took from their original places. Or, maybe found when thrifting and junking too. Drawers can be hung to the walls and used as shelves, they can be mounted, they can be cut to then attach to the walls with the fronts facing everyone, I have seen some big drawers that were used as little night stands next to a bed, and the possibilities are endless with this along with other things too. This picture came from consignmentphinds.blogspot.com

As you can see there are so many possibilities to use to organize our homes, our little spaces, rooms, and etc. With some of them we can give our own little touches to them to work with our country homes, shabby homes, cottage homes, beach homes, and so on. I hope this helps you with some ideas of what to do with organizing. As we all know, seeing something can often give us our insights we need to serve us. So, have fun with it everyone!:) Thanks so much for visiting with Second Time Treasures! Always a pleasure to have you, and see you again soon. Take care, and Happy Holidays everyone!:)

Thrifting Repurposing Home Decor With Artfire

Hello, and Welcome to Second Time Treasures! Glad to see you, and happy you could stop to visit with us today.

Whew! Where has the time gone, right? Christmas is a little over 3 weeks away...everyone ready? Not Me! Usually by this time decorations have been put up outside, in the windows, inside the home, around the garage, and so on. I also have done all the Christmas cards, and gotten them sent out by now too. Not this year! Different time for us here with things happening. The farm we live on we have been here for over 3 years now. The landlord has been wanting to do things with the place. Last year the house, the garage, the big stable barn, and all the other sheds got tin roofs put on. This year, very late in the year with the contractors, but all the siding has been ripped off of the house and garage. New siding is on the garage with a new entry door too. The house has had a hole cut in the living room wall with 2 new windows put in, a window in spare room upstairs was replaced with just some flex glass, the other window has been removed now - this room will be the upstairs bathroom being added, the door in our bedroom was taken off and that is being closed off too. A wooden porch is being added up front facing the road, and a little bit bigger porch is being added to the main entrance door. Oh, yes, there is a new entry door with the house too. Now...considering the weather with a light snow, and cold they have slowly been working on putting insulation back on the house with the siding. Part of the down stairs is done, with the upstairs to be worked on yet too. The transformation is amazing!

Unfortunately, with all of this happening our home is in a shambles right now. Furniture pulled away from some of the walls with the window replacements, and the upstairs spare room has been combined into another room with items. So, my lace, my ribbons, my beads, my scrapbook paper, paints, and all crafty things are here there, and you know. I have lost my extra room to work with some things since rooms have been combined to make room for things, and of course items coming off all the outer walls with all the banging, and pounding. I feel like I am at a loss staring at a messy home. I want to work on things, but it is kind of hard to do so. The most I have accomplished is gluing some holders as pedestals to some plates making a cake plate stand, and a 2 tier cake plate stand. Another reason I have been kind of absent from here, and not able to show too much of anything. You can visit Artfire to see some of the things I have gotten done, added for sale there, and to watch for more coming that I was able to get pictured....even that task is a challenge now:) I got about 3 other things listed the other night, and hope to get another 1-2 done tonight too. A 2 tier cake plate made from a vintage dinner plate, and a glass cloche that has been repurposed by me also.

You are more than welcome to visit with my store to see what goodies are being offered. Bear with me as I am working on filling the store back up. I did have a customer buy both my federal glass dishes I had repurposed, and is enjoying them very very much!:) Those can be viewed in my Gallery. Thanks so much for visiting with me, and bearing through all the changes right now. Thinking of everyone, and hoping ya'll are better prepared for the Holidays than what I am this year. Take care, and come back to see me again.

Set Clocks Back an Hour Day Light Savings Time

Set Them Clocks Back an Hour, Day Light Savings Time.

Hello, and Welcome to Second Time Treasures this evening! Glad to have you here, and that you could stop to visit with me! I wanted to come by, and leave a note for everyone to remind you to set them clocks back tonight before you go to bed. Otherwise, you could wake in the morning to a reality check after you have rushed around getting ready for church, to meet with friends, to go for a brunch, and so on....that you are waayyy ahead of schedule. By about an hour...LOL:) Don't worry, this is a reminder for me too. I get forgetful as well:)

Setting our clocks back is good, we gain another hour, but I also think of how this is it. This is really fall/winter time, and the dark nights will come much sooner to us now too. Hopefully this winter will be good to us, and we can move onto spring when need be.

Ok, sorry. Thanks again for visiting with Second Time Treasures, and hope this is a helpful reminder to you about setting them clocks back! Enjoy that extra hour....I know I will:) See you when you come back.

Glassware, Green Glass, Amber Glass, Blue Glass

Glassware, Green Glass, Amber Glass, Blue Glass

Hello, and Welcome to Thrift Store Junkies with LilacsNDreams! Glad to have you here, and that you could take some time to visit with me!:) As some already know, I have not done much of anything the past 2 weeks due to being home sick:-(  Great timing as some of us had planned a "Girls Weekend" We were going to meet at a 1/2 way point for us to get together, had the motel reserved, had things mapped out, addresses for some possibilities, and all of that wonderful stuff. New area, new places for treasures, and so on. Well.....I am still home not wanting to infect anyone yet. The girls got together, were packing up, and heading out this morning. I am upset, and missing being there already....but what's a person to do, right? So, I came to my blog to share some thing with everyone here....until I need to step away again:)

Above you will see a few pictures of one of my last ventures out there with thrifting. I was holding off on getting too much due to this weekend, but as you can see from these pieces, and others that have been shown, there are some possibilities to be repurposing with too. I want to try, and take a day where I play around with the glass pieces, and try to put something together a little bit differently than what I have done so far. I keep thinking I will find something else to do, but I do LOVE my glassware. I enjoy painting pieces, but now that it is cold....I will not be able to do much of it unless it is small enough to work with sponge applicators, and some small brushes:)

It's Friday, and I hope everyone is having a beautiful day. It is cool here, and beautifully sunny too! Wish I was out there digging, but health should really come first....no matter how frustrated I am getting...LOL:) Thanks for the visit everyone, take care, and see you again soon!:)

Ball Jar, Picture Frame, Pink Jewelry Thrift Store Finds

Ball Jar, Picture Frame, Pink Jewelry Thrift Store Finds

Hello, and Welcome to Second Time Treasures. Glad to have you here, and happy that you could stop by to visit. I have shown 3 pictures of a few things I got when visiting a Thrift Store I visited recently. Just one of them days I could not find much of anything, and due to that the mood of thrifting was not so good anymore. But, I did get a few things.

Got the Ball Jar....snatched that one right away. Look at the tarnished lid on it, and inside are some colored wooden beads that came with the jar too. The picture frame I grabbed that too. I have another one just like it I had gotten like 2-3 years ago, and have a wedding picture in it of Me and my Grandmother. So, when I seen another frame like it I grabbed it right away thinking I could then put in a picture of my husband with maybe his grandmother too. One of them precious things that can be appreciated. Next to the frame is a soft pink necklace with only 1 earring. Wish I had the other earring to craft with, but I like the soft pink of this color so I took it anyway. Lastly, not exactly sure what it is, but it looks like some type of a keyring. I got this piece because of the iridescent colored stone in the center, and around it. never know what can be done with this, right?

Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday. I am off to try and finish up painting on some pieces that I have primed, and hopefully start adding some color to them now. Big wooden bowl, and 2 smaller wooden bowls. I did get a 4th wooden bowl finished. That one I am leaving white. Plan is to have a white bowl, blue bowl, and the 2 smaller bowls will be a ballet slipper pink. Hmmm...sounds kind of yummy, don't ya think?:)

Thanks for visiting, and hope to see you again. Take care everyone, and have a super evening!:)

Thrift Store Finds, Treasure Hunting, and Junking

Thrift Store Finds, Treasure Hunting, and Junking too!

Hello everyone, and welcome to Second Time Treasures! Great to have you visit with me, and glad you stopped by. The past 3 times I have been out, and about I have gone thrifting a little bit. Ooohhh, what fun it is too! I don't always find something that I see possibilities with, but I sure do like to like anyway!:)

Here you will see pictures of me showing some items I found while thrifting the other day. I am happy, excited, have ideas, seen possibilities too. But, this week has been soooo windy out! Beautiful weather, sunny, warmer, and great. But, just too windy to do anything. The 3 wood like bowls I wanted to paint this week. Got the primer, got some paints of white, pink, blue, and black, and was ready to be in the garage. Shoot! Just didn't happen yet. Hopefully this next week I can get some time in before the weather changes again, and I won't be able to paint for the winter...urgh!

Thanks again for visiting with Second Time Treasures everyone! Hey, before I forget....I got a domain that I directed to this blog. Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning on 9/11

Where were you when the world stopped turning on 9/11 ten years ago? Were you home watching tv when it happened? Were you at work when you heard the news? Were you in school, or maybe heard it on the radio going down the road.

I was home, and waking to the news. My husband was suppose to be out east with the truck that morning, but due to a delay/cancellation of the load he was at home. He had an extra day he could use to swing by the house. I awoke that morning, my grandmother was calling to see if hubby was ok, and where he was at for sure. When I seen the videos, and all those people on tv I was devastated! I was sad, and I cried because of what happened, for those who lost someone, for all the first responders that were there helping or who maybe lost their lives too, and just so many emotions at that time.

The next day hubby was out that way with the truck. He called home to let me know things ok for him, and that they were searching vehicles/trucks with dogs. He told me he thanked them for using the dogs to search, but too bad it had not been done sooner to maybe help prevent things that had happened.

I was proud of how we came together as the great United States we are to help those who needed it, and to come together as a nation to grieve, give our support, and do what we could with the tragedy that had happened. Since then America has not been the same due to the fear that has been added from that day.

And, why did it happen? How could we permit something like this to happen? I feel for those kids today....10 years later who lost a parent and the growing they have had to do without them. How do we explain to our children today what happened back then? Do we tell them? What is the best thing to tell them that they can still believe in this country, and feel safe being here too? So many things, so many thoughts, and so many emotions.

Thanks for visiting with Second Time Treasures on this day of Remembrance for the tragedy that happened 10 years ago. I wish you all well, and take care. You are welcome to share, and comment with this issue as well.

Milke Glass For Collectibles, For Your Home, For Decorative Decor

Milk Glass For Collectibles, For Your Home, For Decorative Decor

Hello, and Welcome to Second Time Treasures! Glad to see you back here visiting with me. I know, been MIA, but it has all been with family. Son signing up for the army, and our daughter with her little girl moving to Texas. Just busy and hectic past 2-3 weeks.

Ok, back on subject here. Milk glass was first made in Venice within the 16th century. At that time the Venetians had made the milk glass opaque, or also translucent within several different colors offered. Those colors consisted of blue, pink, green, and included white too. This white color has been accomplished with the addition of a tin oxide, or with a bone ash. The name of Milk Glass is relatively a recent name for the glass. Also, the glass is blown, or pressed into a wide variety of shapes too.

I know some people who are creative desire to do their own milk glass looking items by painting them. When done they look so fresh, and clean too. The pieces are great for show in your homes with some of the vases holding flowers, or even with some of the pieces sitting alone too. Think of the Holidays soon here, and adding some of these kind of pieces to adorn the rooms in your home. Very festive, still considered a luxury item, and still a great collectible too.

Below I will show some pictures I found throughout the internet with blogs, websites, etsy sellers, and so on. I would like to note where I found some of the pieces from which were at: Ruffled Blog, Milk Glass, Fab Funky Finds, Barking Sands Vintage, Passionof MilkGlassCollecting, and Eclectic Artifacts.

Milk Glass Collectibles of different shapes and sizes

Moss and Milk Glass Center Pieces that were made

Shell Pink Milk Glass Pedestal Cake Stand soft coloring

Vintage Green Milk Glass Hobnail Slipper Shoe softly colored, and adorable style that is a collectible.

Milk Glass Salt and Pepper Shaker Set

Fenton Blue Milk Glass Compote Candy Dish is a soft luxurious color used also.

Again, thanks for visiting with Second Time Treasures, and I do hope you enjoyed your visit with me. You are Welcome to leave comments, and share with all of us here too. Know that you are always Welcome to visit with me, and everyone here again too. Thanks for stopping by, and see you again!:)

Blue Tin Metal Tray Repurposed Chalkboard

Blue Tin Metal Tray Repurposed Chalkboard. Welcome to Second Time Treasures! This is a tray I had found while thrifting a while back. With this tray I also found 2 really retro looking ones, and 2 red ones as well. With most things it is my first time repurposing, and upcycling different pieces. I thought this would be cute as a chalkboard, but am sorry to say places I checked I could not find the spray chalkboard. So, I ended up getting a bottle of the liquid chalkboard paint, and used a sponge to apply it. Now....I know why the spray is more effective, and recommended. You do not see the
lines of application with the spray as you do with the sponge application. But, this is the completed project I had done with this tray. I wish I had another tray like this to do another one, but this was the only one found. I have tested it, and it is writable, and works as it should which is good. Now, I am thinking of different methods to add something to this that it can hang, and be used. Wish me luck...a working progress:)

When you have a chance, visit with my Artfire Store to see some of the vintage pieces I am offering for sale....have sold 3 pieces past couple of weeks:) Also, I have some inventory of my repurposed pieces listed there, and pieces done recently will soon be added. Working on pieces to build my inventory to offer to everyone:)

Thanks for visiting Second Time Treasures, and hope you enjoyed your visit with me. Feel free to visit my other pages....which actually take you to my main blog showing everything. Thanks again, and have a wonderful day everyone!:)

Mikasa Cake Plate Stand 3 Tier Repurposed

Mikasa Cake Plate Stand 3 Tier Repurposed

Welcome to Second Time Treasures, and glad to have you here! I wanted to stop by quickly, and show ya'll another picture of another project I have completed. My 1st 3 tier cake plate stand made using a Mikasa Dinner Plate, and Miksasa Saucer Plate, then I used a Yellow Alco Salad Plate. I connected the pieces together with glass candle holeders that are matching. Another project repurposed with items not selling with different venues I have used. I don't want to throw them out, don't want to give them away, and so I have repurposed them to this. All the plates are in like new condition, and the glass candle holders are in a new condition too. When I have posted this for sale along with other items I have done, I will surely note it here for all of you to visit. Till then, hope you enjoy this before, and after pictures of this. Thanks for visiting with Second Time Treasures, and hope to see you again. Always welcome to comment, and share with everyone here too.
